The Capital Connection and The Wairarapa Connections trains services are commuter trains, so reservations are not required. Tickets for these trains are available from Tranz Metro ticket office - Wellington Railway Station, Masteron Railway Station, Featherston Railway Station and Palmerston North Railway Station or from the respective Train Manager's on the day of travel.
There is no suburban train services in the greater Christchurch area or Dunedin, no train services between Christrchurch and Dunedin and Christchurch or Dunedin to Invercargill.
There are no passenger train services to/from - Bay of Islands, Whangarei, Rotoura, Taupo, Gisborne, Napier, Hastings, New Plymouth, Nelson, Wanaka, Te Anau, Queenstown or Invercargill.
